She said, “I’m cold, roll up the window please!” Mike, can you roll down the window? We still say ROLL do we not, even though 99% of the population has power windows? I know that I am the only person that I know that still has windows that you haveta manually grab a handle and turn baby turn. The reason being contained in another story all together. Anyway, this Roll up the window saying makes me wonder if kids will at some point forget why we say roll up the window. I am guessing the generation du jour, is it generation Y or Z or ZZ, has probably gone their whole lives without ever seeing a manual window roller handle thingy. Dealers call them Power windows, but does anyone say Power down the window? So back to my point, if there ever was one, if you observe old sayings, “fair to middling, or the whole 9 yards” you will notice that the origins are sometimes unsure. You may also notice that changes in technology are the reason the origins of these sayings may be in question, yet the sayings live on. I think I will place roll up the window on Wiki so future generations will know where it came from.
